Business Challenge:

As the need for EV charging infrastructure is increasing across the UK in line with National demand, organisations and fleet managers are looking at ways to provide safe and secure infrastructure. In line with the addition of EV as a Service to the Ajar Technology solution stack, we worked with a UK EV hub operator to advise on their strategy for asset management and site security.

Theft of cable, vandalism, and anti-social behaviour is widely reported at EV charging hubs, service stations and ad-hoc charging locations. The Operator was keen to ensure that any new and existing assets would be protected and monitored, whilst being able to provide further security to drivers utilising their services.

 

Our Solution:

Working with the Operator, we reviewed the on-site requirements, access routes, assets and levels of usage. We designed an integrated cloud CCTV specification which provided fixed cameras recording direct to a dedicated cloud provision, managed through mobile connectivity, enabling complete remote management and live alerts, notifications and smart search functionality for incident management.

Comprising 4G connectivity, and carefully positioned cameras recording direct to the cloud, the operator is able to have a 24/7 view of all assets and usage.

In collaboration with our EV infrastructure partners, the cloud CCTV system is capable of being integrated to fleet management systems and EV booking / parking space booking apps further providing a total managed service for EV infrastructure.

• Operators can access live and recorded video remotely via a browser or mobile app, allowing them to monitor multiple charging sites from a central location which in turn improves response times to incidents

• Operational Efficiency: Video analytics can help identify peak usage times, detect blocked charging bays, and monitor the overall health of the hub, allowing operators to manage resources more effectively [1, 2].

• In the event of an accident, vandalism, or a payment dispute, recorded footage provides crucial evidence to assist with insurance claims and investigations, simplifying the resolution process

• The scalability and cost effective model of the Cloud CCTV solution allows the Operator to simply add more cameras as the hub expands without significant hardware investment

• The in-built analytics provide valuable data insights to the Operator into user behaviour and EV charging uptake which assists with their future site planning strategy
