Business Challenge:

South Wales Police were looking to enhance the surveillance capabilities for mobile operations, including for large event management. A decision was taken to review the capabilities of their fleet of five mobile CCTV vans, which led to a subsequent upgrade of the vans CCTV provision.

Our Solution:

Working with key partners Excelerate and Milestone Systems, we designed a flexible and scalable solution comprising Excelerate Predator Ultra Cameras, complemented by Milestone XProtect Corporate Video Management Software (VMS). This video VMS designed for large-scale and   installations. In addition to central management of all servers, cameras and users in a multi-site setup, Milestone XProtect Corporate includes an integrated video wall for operators demanding supreme situational awareness of any event. Running on the industry’s best performing recording engine with a recording rate of minimum 3.1 Gbit/s, XProtect Corporate is ideal for installations with 24/7 operation requirements.

Powered by Excelerate’s Exstream video streaming connectivity technology, which allows multiple CCTV streams to be shared securely via the Milestone video stream sharing platform, this upgrade further enhances situational awareness, most notably at pre-planned and spontaneous events. The commitment made by the Force to upgrade their CCTV vans aligned with their ongoing strategy around community safety. The vans are used as a tactical tool for planned and pre-planned events, as well as a deterrent to anti-social behaviour. The flexibility of the solution has enabled versatile usage for both day and night requirements, and an ability to manage cloud based, ongoing remote access to footage through the use of enhanced connectivity provisions on board the vehicles.
